An Introduction to The World Ship Society of British Columbia

The World Ship Society of British Columbia is the operating name of the Vancouver Branch of The World Ship Society, Ltd.

Vancouver Branch meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month -- September to May only.
A short business session precedes entertainment which ranges from illustrated talks to professionally produced films or videos.
Meetings are held at the: Vancouver Maritime Museum's "J. Torben Karlshoej Gallery" (unless otherwise announced), 1905 Ogden Avenue (north foot of Cypress Street) (Kitsilano) Vancouver, B.C. Doors open 7 PM - meeting @ 7:30 PM (unless otherwise announced).
The World Ship Society is a partner organisation of the Vancouver Maritime Museum. Membership in the Vancouver Maritime Museum will entitle you to a discount at the Maritime Store plus other valuable benefits, such as free parking in their parking lot and access to their enormous holdings in the library.
Anyone with an interest in ships or the sea is welcome to join us at one of our regular monthly meetings. Consider attending one of our meetings as a guest -- then you can decide for yourself whether or not to join.
Our parent organization, The World Ship Society is the leading organization catering to the needs of ship enthusiasts around the world. From its formation as the "Ship News Club" in 1947, it has grown until today it has members in more than 50 countries.
Each FULL member receives a subscription to our monthly magazine, Marine News, has access to the vast information resources of the Central Record and Photo Library (both operated out of the UK), can join in local branch activities (for a small additional fee), receives our branch newsletter, the Ship's Log, has many opportunities to acquire photographs or postcards, and -- of even more importance, is the comradery of meeting fellow ship lovers -- or can be put in touch with others with similar interests, general or specialised. We welcome new members from any part of Canada (although we also have members in other countries, as well).
